Obsession for America

Are you one of the many people who have questioned why we are still fighting America’s longest war ever in Afghanistan? Have you wondered why we still are committing blood and treasure to occupy a country where all the Al-Qaeda operatives have already left, been killed, or captured? Have you wondered why Obama hasn’t held his promise to get our troops home?

It’s time to stop obsessing over such trivial matters according to President Obama.

President Barack Obama said Sunday that there’s “a lot of obsession” about the withdrawal date for U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

That’s right America. It’s time to stop getting all “OCD” on when we bring our troops home. What’s the big hurry anyway? We’ve only been fighting this war against Al-Qaeda, Taliban, terrorism…yes that’s it, for only 9 years. As our war leader has said,

“You’ll often hear, why are we in Afghanistan when the terrorists are in Pakistan?” Obama said.

He contended America would be less secure if al-Qaida still could be housed in Afghanistan, and contended there remains “a vital national interest that Afghanistan not be used as a base to launch terrorist attacks.”

So there you have it. We actually can never leave Afghanistan….ever. We must have thousands of troops occupying their country indefinitely just in case an Al-Qaeda operative tries to re-enter the U.S. territory of Afghanistan.

How can America afford to occupy Afghanistan indefinitely? By asking China to re-value their currency of course. According to Obama and his crack team of economists,

“A strong and durable recovery also requires countries not having an undue advantage,” he said. “As I told (Chinese) President Hu Jintao yesterday, the United States welcomes China’s decision to allow its currency to appreciate in response to market forces. We will be watching very closely in the months ahead.”

Now if China does increase the value of it’s currency that will increase the costs of China’s imported goods that millions of Americans purchase daily. I’m not quite clear how that helps America but I’m certain that Obama’s economic team has figured that all out. Perhaps, they are just hoping that China will be able to buy even more of America’s debt.

So as Obama has said, it’s time to stop asking so many questions and just trust our overlords of war and finance. Leave the obsessions to your glorious government and don’t worry, Obama is looking out for you. Just maybe not in the way you thought he would when he campaigned.
